OAKWOOD FARMERS' MARKET+ CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY IN CARNIVAL ATMOSPHERE

This month's market is on Saturday 20th. June. We hope if you enjoyed last months market you will join us again this month. Each month the market is attracting new and regular customers but there are still plenty of local residents who are unaware of it. The January leaflet drop was very effective and certainly brought some customers who had not been before, but why not make April the month you bring a friend along‏ enjoy a coffee or ice cream whilst shopping amongst the excellent array of stalls? (For 2009 market dates see below). If you wish to print out your own copy of the 2009 Flyer you can do so below.

In a challenging economic climate it is important that we all get good value for our money. Oakwood market offers shoppers not only high quality but excellent value with the added benefit of being able to call on the expertise of the grower or producer. You can't get that in the supermarket! To read an independent view of the value to be had at Oakwood Farmers' Market check out this link - Eating Out In Leeds

If all of this isn't enough to make you want to come to shop at the Oakwood Clock (click for directions) on the third Saturday of every month (9.30am till 12.30pm), then you can of course enjoy the monthly REAP stall where environmental issues are tackled in a fun and interesting way - so far these have included a wormery, apple type identification, bicycle checks, energy conservation, composting and much more.

Along with our regular stall holders each month we will be bringing you guest stalls specialising in "what's in season". . Keep checking this space to see what delights we have in store for future markets. This month you can come and savour some of the first Local Asparagus and English Strawberrys.

Get to know more about the stall holders by visiting our stall holder interview page.

If you haven't yet been to our competition area, you may want to know that every month we are running a competition with a prize of £5.00 worth of stallholder's produce. To see if you have won the May 2009 competition click on this link Spot the Shopper Competition - best of luck!

Oakwood Farmers' market has been set up on a voluntary basis by a small group of interested local residents. It provides good quality, locally sourced fresh food such as meat, bread, cheese, fish, preserves, fruit and vegetables (some organic) and much more. Each month, in addition to the regular stalls, we will provide a number of guest stalls for additional variety, The market also includes information about sustainable living - that's the "+"!
This months the REAP interest will be from WizzGo Cars.

Oakwood Farmers' Market+ is the first initiative of the Roundhay Environmental Action Project ("REAP"), who would like to thank the Ward Members for supporting their bid for 'set up' funding for the Farmers' Market from the North East (Inner) Area Committee. REAP is a newly formed organisation established by local Roundhay residents on a voluntary basis, who are concerned about their carbon footprint and want to develop a greener lifestyle. REAP hopes to set up further projects, encouraging people locally to live more sustainably and is open to ideas for new initiatives. Membership is free, so if you want to join this inspiring new venture, visit our website at www.roundhayaction.org.uk, or email us on info@roundhayaction.org.uk, or speak to us at the market
